Anyway his timing was right on the mark, I was feeling a hockey card burnout and needed the challenge. Some time ago I ran across the Goodwin & Co. 1880's cards created for the "Old Judge & Gypsy Queen" cigarettes. Loved the look and had it filed away as a "project" when I got time. The two seemed made for each other so I went to work, haven't completed the task but did get 18 cards created and sent off. Here they are, hope my viewers enjoy as much as I did creating them, will be keeping my bios short due to number of cards but many of them are worth looking up due to their amazing stories. I resized them to 2" x 3 1/2" and created a reverse listing highlights of their careers, I'll only upload a single reverse pic so you get the idea.
Card #1 in the "Walsh & Co. Old Judge & Gypsy Queen" vintage set belongs to George Owen, like a few names on the list this one that didn't mean a thing to me.
Harvard George Owen Jr. was a professional ice hockey defenceman for the Boston Bruins of the NHL. He was also elected into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1983. In 1928, Owen became the first player to wear a helmet in an NHL game.
There you have the first 18 cards in my Old Judge vintage series, hope you enjoy them and do search the life stories of these individuals, they will amaze you.
