Stan Jones, a 6-1, 252-pound lineman from the University of Maryland, played 13 seasons in the NFL after the Chicago Bears selected Jones as a future choice in the 1953 NFL Draft. He was an All-NFL guard in 1955, 1956, 1959, and 1960 and played in seven straight Pro Bowls following the 1955 through 1961 seasons. Jones played both ways in 1962 and then switched to defensive tackle permanently in 1963. That year, the Bears marched to the NFL championship on the strength of an outstanding defensive platoon. After his 12th season in 1965, Bears coach George Halas agreed, as a favor to Jones, to trade him to the Washington Redskins so that he could play a final season near his home in Rockville, Maryland. Jones retired after the 1966 season. Client wanted a 1960 Fleer custom creation.
Pat Burns had dreams of one day playing on a Stanley Cup championship team. Growing up within sight of the Montreal Forum and having an older cousin who played in the NHL (Robin Burns) helped fuel his ambitions. Although realizing he didn't have the skill set to achieve his dream, Pat's enthusiasm for the game never waned. When a friend asked him to assist with coaching a bantam team in Gatineau, Quebec, Pat jumped at the chance, and subsequently worked his way up through the ranks. That led to a 16 year NHL coaching career that saw him win 3 Jack Adams awards and win a Stanley Cup New Jersey in before cancer finally ended Pat's life on November 19, 2010.
Joel Bouchard was selected 129th overall by the Calgary Flames at the 1992 NHL Entry Draft and spent the majority of his first two pro seasons with the Saint John Flames of the AHL. Bouchard was left unprotected at the 1998 Expansion Draft and he was picked up by the Nashville Predators. Bouchard enjoyed a solid year with the Predators in 1998-99 but was then claimed on waivers by the Dallas Stars during the 1999-00 season. That was followed by short stops with the Devils and Rangers before landing in Pittsburgh mid-season 2002-03.
