Besides doing my regular custom creations, Maple Leaf custom autographs are part of my repertoire, will post some I have done lately of deceased or hard to get former players. Will follow that with custom Maple Leaf creations either not previously posted or that have been updated for my own collection, some of my original Maple Leaf creations look pretty poor in retrospect !! Lockdown continues on PEI but Covid-19 shutout for a week now !! Back for another try at getting some of the hundreds of missing customs posted here, this batch will start with a group of netminders. Abbie Cox played 5 games in the National Hockey League with 4 different teams, the Montreal Maroons, the Detroit Red Wings, the New York Americans and Montreal Canadiens. Here are a set of cards to display his NHL career. Paul Gauthier played junior hockey for the Winnipeg Monarchs from 1932 to 1935 before he embarked on a fourteen year career in the minor pros. On January 13, 1938, he was lent to the Montreal Canadiens to replace the injured Wilf Cude and tied the Chicago Blackhawks 2-2 in what would be his only NHL appearance. Mike Karakas was the NHL's first American-born and trained goaltender and the first player of Greek descent. Karakas played six full seasons and parts of two others with the Chicago Black Hawks and appeared in two Stanley Cup Finals, winning once. He made a game game stop in Montreal in 1939-40, here's a custom creation to show that stop. Phil Myre was originally selected by the Montreal Canadiens in the 1966 NHL Entry Draft and played parts of three seasons with them. We have previously posted a 1970-71 creation, here's his next year. Mark Holden was the Canadiens tenth-round pick, 160th overall, in the 1970 NHL Entry Draft. He played four games for them in the 1981-82 and 1983-84 seasons. Never had a card issued, here's one for his time in Montreal. Doug Soeteart was selected by the New York Rangers in the second round of the 1975 NHL Amateur Draft and played 12 seasons in the NHL with the Rangers, Winnipeg Jets, and Montreal Canadiens. Like Holden he also never had a card issued, here's one for his time in Montreal. Vincent Riendeau played for the Montreal Canadiens, St. Louis Blues, Detroit Red Wings, and the Boston Bruins before becoming the first Canadian former NHL player to sign in the Russian Superleague. Made his NHL debut with Habs, playing a single game in 1987-88. Lots of 1990-91 St. Louis Blues rookie cards, here's his Canadiens "Rookie Card". Frédéric Chabot played parts of five seasons in the National Hockey League for the Montreal Canadiens, Philadelphia Flyers and Los Angeles Kings. Had a rookie card as a King issued in the 1997-98 Be A Player set, here's his Habs rookie card. Wayne "Swoop" Carleton was a member of the 1970 Boston Bruins Stanley Cup champions and client wanted a 1969-70 Bruins custom to mark occasion. He later jumped to WHA with Ottawa Nationals and we created a card to showcase his first WHA season also. Same client also wanted some customs to commemorate NHLers with Team Canada or Team USA. Kyle McLaren played 12 NHL seasons with Bruins and Sharks, appeared at 2001 World Cup with Team Canada. John LeClair was the first American-born NHL player to score 50 goals in three consecutive NHL seasons while playing with the Flyers. He was also a member of the Montreal Canadiens' Stanley Cup winning team in 1993 and appeared at 1996 World Cup with Team USA. Mike Sullivan left Boston University for a 12 season NHL coaching career, making stops with San Jose, Calgary, Boston & Phoenix. Also made 3 trips to World Cup with Team USA, once as head coach and twice as assistant. Andre Burakovsky was drafted in the 1st round, 23rd overall, by Washington in 2013 NHL Entry Draft and had RC issued in three 2014-15 sets, client wanted a 2018-19 style Capitals card. Dmitrij Jaskin was drafted in the 2nd round, 41st overall, by St. Louis in 2011 NHL Entry Draft. Claimed by the Capitals off waivers Oct. 2, 2018 and again client wanted a 2018-19 custom card. Will finish off tonight's post with a group of 1968-69 Detroit Red Wings customs. Ron Anderson played in the NHL for the Detroit Red Wings, Los Angeles Kings, St. Louis Blues, and Buffalo Sabres and in the WHA with the Alberta/Edmonton Oilers. Made his NHL debut as a Red Wing but his RC is as a Blue in 1969-70 OPC set. John Brenneman was a vagabond NHL/minor league forward. Originally Chicago property, he also played with the Rangers, the Red Wings, the Maple Leafs and Seals, never playing a full season in the NHL. The most he played in any one season was 41 games with Toronto in 1966-67. He had 1968-69 OPC & Topps RCs issued as an Oakland Seal although the Topps card shows him in a Blues uniform. Bart Crashley was a well travelled Detroit Red Wings depth defenseman playing 4 seasons with them. Had a RC issued in the 1967-68 Topps set. Warren Godfrey was a hard hitting defenseman with the Wings and Bruins in the 1950s and 1960s. He hit so hard they called him "The Rock" or "Rocky" for short. He played in 786 NHL contests, scoring 32 goals and 125 points, the last of them in 1967-68. Danny Lawson played 219 regular season games between 1967-68 and 1971-72 with the Red Wings, North Stars and Buffalo Sabres. His first game came with the Red Wings in 1967-68 while still a junior. His only full season came with the Sabres in 1971-72 but that still didn't rate a hockey card, here is his Red Wings rookie. Frank Mahovlich was dealt to Detroit in 1967-68 after 50 season games in Toronto where he had spent his 11 prior seasons. Had a card issued with Red Wings in 1968-69 set that ranks as one of the worst head paste jobs ever, client wanted an upgrade. Gary Marsh played seven games in the National Hockey League with the Detroit Red Wings and Toronto Maple Leafs, his first 6 as a Red Wing in 1967-68. Never had a card issued, we have previously posted his Maple Leaf CTNW. Rick McCann played 43 games in the NHL, all with the Detroit Red Wings, starting with 3 in 1967-68. Never had a card issued, here's his RC creation. Bob McCord saw action in 316 games in the NHL with Minnesota North Stars, Detroit Red Wings, St. Louis Blues, and Boston Bruins, had a Bruins RC in the 1963-64 Tops set. Jimmy Peters Jr. played 309 games in the NHL with Detroit & Los Angeles. His father, Jimmy "Shakey" Peters Sr., also played in the NHL winning the Stanley Cup 3 times. Peters Jr. started his NHL career with the Detroit Red Wings in the 1964–65 season and also played for the Los Angeles Kings between 1968 and 1975. His 1969-70 OPC rookie card was issued as a King. Dave Richardson played 45 games in the NHL with the Chicago Black Hawks, Detroit Red Wings, and New York Rangers. Made his NHL debut in 1963-64 with Rangers and played his final game, the only one of the year, with Red Wings in 1967-68. Never had a hockey card issued. Floyd Smith made his NHL debut with the Boston Bruins, playing 3 games with the team in 1955 and another 23 games over the next two seasons. He then spent five years with the New York Rangers organization, reaching the NHL only once, for a 29-game stint in 1961. In 1963, Smith finally earned a chance to become an NHL regular after being acquired by the Detroit Red Wings. He scored an NHL career-high 49 points during the 1965–66 season but was sent to Toronto in mid-season 1967-68. He had a 1968-69 card issued as a Leaf but client wanted a Wings version. Jean-Guy Talbot won the Stanley Cup in each of his first five NHL seasons with the Montreal Canadiens. Dealt to Detroit to start 1967-68 but would see time in St. Louis and Minnesota before the season ended. Jim Watson played 6 seasons in Detroit, making his debut in 1963-64 and his last in 1969-70 before a trade to Buffalo. Jumped to WHA for 1972-73 and spent 4 seasons in that league before retiring after the 1975-76 season spent in Quebec. Thanks to Delvin Rach, Gary Hirel, Costa Tsatsarones, & Douglas Ball for their ongoing support and requests !
