Brian Gionta was the 3rd round choice, 82nd overall selection of the New Jersey Devils in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft. After 4 years at Boston College he joined the Devils in 2001-02 and spent 7 seasons there before joining Montreal as a free agent in 2009. Following the 2013-14 season he was off to Buffalo, again as a free agent signing, where he served as team captain, an honor he also held in Montreal. Following the 2016-17 season he found himself again cut loose and landed a spot on the Bruins where he played 20 games. He was released by Boston after there playoff loss to Tampa Bay, here's a Bruins custom to likely mark the end of a great career.
Don Grierson was drafted by the Montreal Canadiens in round 3, 23rd overall, of the 1968 NHL Amateur Draft. Spent 4 seasons in the AHL, IHL and WHL winning the IHL Turner Cup with Port Huron in 1971 and 1972. Selected by Dayton Aeros in 1972 WHA General Player Draft he signed a WHA contract with Houston in May 1972. Played 2 seasons with the Aeros winning AVCO World Trophy with Houston in 1974. Spent the next 3 years in minors retiring after the 1976-77 season spent in the NAHL and SHL.
