Centre Gerry Goyer played 40 games for the Chicago Black Hawks in 1967-68 in what would be his only NHL appearance. He had played nine WHL seasons prior to his arrival and would add six more after his departure plus a final three years in the WIHL for a 23 year career including junior !!
His NHL numbers were minimal considering he came in off seven straight WHL seasons having scored 20+ goals. In 40 regular season games he managed 1 goal and 2 assists and was shutout in 3 playoff games.
Topps issued him a rookie card in the 1967-68 set and here is my 1968-69 Missing Link creation.
Topps also issued him a rookie card in the 1967-68 set and here is my 1968-69 Missing Link creation.
Reid lasted with Chicago until 1969 when the Minnesota North Stars acquired him. For the nine seasons that followed he served as a North Star mainstay. In 1977 a small red rash appeared on his arm, massive itching sensations soon followed and his skin began to deteriorate. Before the season was over, his suffering grew so severe that he was forced to retire, the doctors concluding that he was allergic to his equipment and/or to the dye found in his uniform.
His official rookie card was issued as part of the 1970-71 North Stars team so here is my version of his Chicago Missing Links rookie.
After stops in St. Louis and Montreal Schmautz found himself in Vancouver with the fledging Canucks. Here, and later in Boston, he regained his confidence and scoring touch. When he retired in 1982 after stops in Edmonton, Colorado and back to Vancouver he had played 764 career NHL games with 271 goals and 186 assists.
Schmautz never got a regular card issued until the 1972-73 set, as a Canuck, here is my 1968-69 Chicago Missing Link rookie card.
