Pete Donnelly played junior hockey with the QHA Quebec A's, the OHA Ottawa 67's and Kitchener Rangers, before turning pro with the Quebec Aces of the American Hockey League in 1970. He was selected by the New York Raiders in the 1972 WHA selection draft and joined the Raiders that season, playing 47 games. In the off-season, he was traded to the Vancouver Blazers, where he played one season before playing with the minor Tulsa Oilers in 1974–75. He joined the Quebec Nordiques organization in the off-season and he played with the Maine Nordiques farm team for the season, with a four-game call up with the Quebec club. He was out of hockey in 1976–77, but played one more season professionally with the Long Beach Sharks/Rockets of the Pacific Hockey League in 1977–78 before retiring from professional ice hockey. |
Brian Gibbons started his hockey career in Newfoundland but moved to the Ontario Hockey Association in 1965 as a member of the Hamilton Red Wings. During his pro career Gibbons played in the WHA as well as Western Hockey League, the Central Hockey League and the American Hockey League with teams in San Diego, Forth Worth, Denver, Cleveland and Springfield. His WHA career included four impressive seasons where he played with the Ottawa Nationals, Toronto Toros and Ottawa Civics, Gibbons appeared in 226 WHA games scoring 15 goals, 88 assists, 103 points and picking up 113 penalty minutes. |
Dave Hynes spent parts of two seasons with the Boston Bruins playing three games in 1973-74 when he scored 35 goals for the AHL's Boston Braves. The next year he scored 4 goals in 19 NHL games and upped his AHL output to 42 goals on the Rochester Americans. After scoring 37 goals for Rochester in 1975-76 and being named to the AHL first all-star team, Hynes joined the WHA's New England Whalers. Two months into the season he was demoted to the AHL's Rhode Island Reds. That spring he notched seven points in ten games for the US when they finished sixth at the 1977 World Championships. Hynes retired in 1978 after averaging a point per game for the Springfield Indians of the AHL. |
